If I remember correctly reading about these new Linux phones from Motorola there is an abstraction layer between the toolkit (Qt/E) and the GUI apps that run on the phone. The OpenEZX project derives it's name from that layer, which Motorola has ostensibly called EZX. Problem is, AFAIK this layer is not open-source, not even header files, because Motorola wants developers to use Java. So linking into these libraries is going to be hard if not (for now) impossible.
