I don't know the wordstar set... So feel free to clarify what these functions are
supposed to be

It would seem reasonable to provide a complete Keystroke mapping facility
as this would open the configurability of the editor right up...

Turn on the persistent blocks option  in editor options... This stops the 
auto-deselection.
Then your Ctrl+K+V will most likely work as expected.
