Most Linux distributions come with DosEmu which (afaik) runs most things,
depending on what they do.  I havn't really had a need to use dos
apps.  You mention you have software to program micros, if you're wanting
direct hardware access you may run into problems.

Another solution is using VMWare (www.vmware.com) which allows you to
install a virtual machine, which can run whatever operating system you
want (using VMWare/NT and a virtual DOS5 OS has been used by people to
provide access to legacy DOS apps that don't run under NT normally.
