they go do something else. Most of the people doing the "grunt" work on
Linux are
_so_ highly in demand that they can pretty much write their own salaries -
and
keep working on the kernel too. Most of them are definatly NOT working for
nothing (by this I'm talking about the likes of Linux, Alan Cox, John
"MadDog" Hall?, and the others, most of which are employed by Transmeta).

Different attitude - they do it 'cos the love it, not 'cos they want (or
need) the money.
