Its Ann Harrison I believe...

I am on the InterClient development list, I intend to help out at some
stage. I think that it is great that IB is open source, however Inprise
didn't handle things very well. Last I heard they were holding back
Documentation, bug lists, unit tests, make files, install scripts etc.

This is quite petty. Obviously without the IB community these documents
would be worth exactly zero anyway, so I don't see any point keeping
materials closed that would be useful. I think Inprise were hoping to make
some money selling them, but I think they miss the point of OSS.

Inprise could be serious benefactors of the OSS community if they work with
the community. Inprise doesn't need to make money selling IB support - they
should concentrate on what they are good at - tools. By creating good
tools - such as Delphi, Kylix etc etc, and supporting IB, they have the
advantage of a Good Database behind Delphi apps without the related support
costs.

Regardless of what Inprise do, the OOS community is slowly getting geared
up. They/we are recreating much of the materials that were not released.
