Someone working with me also tried this modem and
had the same problem. He eventually gave it back and purchased a Nokia instead,
which works fine (couldn't get any help from where he bought it). I
personally had similar problems, not actually getting it to work at all under
Win98 and eventually settled for the 3Com OfficeConnect, which works but is far
too expensive and too complex to configure :( Getting
3Com assistance (as far as I could ascertain) in NZ was impossible (3Com 0800
was always engaged).
My advice, chuck the 3Com and get a Nokia (they
just seem to work when plugged in). On the other hand, if you get the 3Com
to work, please let us know.
