Hi,

I would like to buy a copy of Delphi. I am interested in
the best possible level, i.e., Standard would be no good,
for a previous version. Delphi 5 or Delphi 6 would be
best I think.

I am trying to convince a company I do some occasional
work for that they need to use a "real" programming platform
instead of Excel. At this point they see no need to spend money
when I have the software at home anyway. The problem is that
my copies are either evaluation or academic versions. They
will just not go for the latest Delphi with all the bells and
whistles.

The other option is a lower level of the latest Delphi. What
is missing from that compared to the better speced versions?
Any comments welcome.

I will be using it to develop stand alone applications for use
but one to about five staff members, but not concurrently.
For example, one application they want is a staff list which
they can print out when they need it which includes staff
locations. Currently they have this in a Excel spreadsheet and
they have to move names from one branch to another each
time someone moves. They have a lot of staff movement.
It takes usually about three to four hours to print this list. It
should take about 10 seconds.

Chrissy.
