Subject to the version of Delphi and the operating system run by the
client I would say that the integration of .chm help files is almost
trivial from the application point of view (add hh.pas) and allows much
more informative help with images and example screen shots.

You do need a good help generator/archiving system - we use Robohelp,
but there are several available.

Subject: [DUG-Offtopic] .CHM vs .HLP

We're finally getting round to writing some significant help files for
our applications. We've been using .hlp files, but are wondering about
switching to .chm. I understand delphi does not support .chm files
directly and was wondering how the community is dealing with this - any
suggestions?
