It goes further than that:

- a bug in OpenSolaris likely will be in Solaris, given Solaris in
   part is a distro of OpenSolaris.

- When the OpenSolaris bug is in some software that derives from an
   external source, the bug may already be known in some 3rd-party bug
   DB and if not, it likely ought to be recorded in that 3rd-part DB
   too.

   This is /always/ the case for the SFW consolidation. It can be the
   case for certain components of the ON consolidation (bind,
   sendmail, etc..)

The ability to tie these together in some way would be useful. 
Bugzilla has had an XML-RPC interface for a while that can help to 
some degree with this.
