I took Keith's message to say that because they went directly to a CG and
not to the OGB, Sun's interactions were not with the community at all.

This seems to disenfranchise the Advocacy CG by specifically asserting
that they do not have the authority or responsibility to advocate for
the OS.o community as a whole.

Yet, the advocacy CG was chartered by the OGB specifically to advocate for
the entire OS.o community, was it not?

If you were to go off on your own, without interacting with the Advocacy
CG, and come up with the "OpenSolaris Award For The Worst-Looking Hack",
I'd wonder why you felt the need to bypass the part of our community that
was responsible for coordinating and governing such things - even as I
devoutly prayed that you wouldn't look at any of *my* code :-)

In my mind it boils down to "why bother delegating to a community group
if you aren't actually willing to let them make any decisions?"
