An important reason why this happens with Linux is the fact that Linus Torvalds
decides what to put into the official kernel and what not. This is why I
mentioned in December 2004 already that we need written down rules and a
constitution to prevent similar things with OpenSolaris.

Correct!
A specific tool set typically enforces a specific layout of the boot filesystem
and may set other contraints for the distribution.
The tool set used by SchilliX makes the creation of a new SchiliX version
simple. A tool set that has been created without closely looking at SchilliX
may be completely unusable for SchilliX.
