Please give an example of such a donation "to the OpenSolaris community as a while". I can't think of one real world example that could not be accommodated within the constraints of the OpenSolaris project, or could not be accommodated with Sun. (Perhaps requiring a bit of creativity on the donors side.) I'd say, "let's cross this bridge when we come to it." or, "let's not put the cart before the horse". (Keep in mind any monetary donation below $100,000-$250,000, would probably not be significant, if you compare it to the amount of resources Sun is pouring into the project.
