We discussed this at the OGB meeting today, and decided to take it to the list for wider discussion before making a final decision.
The initial proposed draft schedule, based on last year's dates from http://opensolaris.org/os/community/ogb/OGB_Election_Status/#electioncalendar shifted to match the 2008 calendar weeks: Nominations Open Mon Feb 18th Nominations Close Mon Mar 3rd (24:00 hrs) Campaigning Opens Tue Mar 4th (00:00 hrs) Election Voting Opens Mon Mar 10th (00:00 hrs) Election Voting Closes Mon Mar 24th (24:00 hrs) Election results posted Tue Mar 25th (sometime) New OGB takes Office Tue Apr 1st Right now, elections of the OGB are the only matter on the ballot - I've suggested that the close of nominations for the OGB candidates also be the close of submissions for any other issues to appear on the ballot, with the current OGB to determine which questions, if any, will appear at its weekly meeting that week. The discussion on the call seemed to favor this as well. There was also a discussion about whether the election should be moved a month earlier, partially in jest and partially given the published plans around the Indiana release in March and needing to have any community-wide votes around that done in time, and the likely impact of Indiana on the issues asked of the OGB candidates. I've also just noticed that the day I've listed for opening of nominations is the President's Day holiday in the US, but given our nomination process consists of a simple e-mail to ogb-discuss, don't see that being a problem at all. -- -Alan Coopersmith- alan.coopersmith at sun.com Sun Microsystems, Inc. - X Window System Engineering
