I can only back up Jörg in that ubiquity of OpenSolaris would help spread it adoption. Wasn't it one of key factors in a rapid growth of Linux distributions use in Enterprise area? You have developers, administrators and users familiar with system. In such situation, a fan yourself maybe, as a CTO, CIO, CEO or whatever, you'll put more weight in the prefference of such operating system. Of course, Linux had also a load of luck. But have it been more closed, I don't believe it would be where it is now. And this is how good words spread. You have your friendly geek use it, then his geeky girfriend, then a geek whose girfirlend is not geeky at all, then his girlfriend, then her new boyfriend. It's secually transmitted disease. I certainly would love to put OS on my LaCie, which os ARM Orion architecture, rather than Debian.
