Since this list is for discussion of the D20 rules as much as it is for
Open Gaming issues (isn't it?) I wanted to ask for comments on the
Wound/Vitality system.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't the W/V system make the game LESS
lethal? Barring critical hits, "Wound Points" seem to be just a pool of CON
extra hit points. What I mean is:

D&D (or 'the Industry Standard Sword&Sorvery Open Gaming System'):Joe First
Level Dwarf Fighter has 11 Hit Points. An orc whacks him for 12. He's dying.

Star Wars:Jo-jo First Level Gungan Soldier has 11 Vitality Points and 12
Wound Points. A stormtrooper shoots him for 12. Jo-jo shrugs and fires his
blaster at the stormtrooper.

Do criticals (which do damage directly against WP) happen enough to
overcome this 'extra pool' effect? (I do like the 'mook rule' though -- a
single hit on a non-classed character kill it.)
