Some of the projects currently in the works at the Guild Companion are
already doing this (in a slightly different way). Unfortunately we have
not yet gotten to the stage of releasing them yet. At least the ones
that I am working on have notes and suggestions on the very subject of
altering information to fit the GM/DM's needs.
That is something that I had felt was very lacking with the old D&D
system (and was one (of many) of the reasons for switching to Rolemaster
over 15 years ago, as they did make it easier to do this, although still
not as easy as it should have been).
