|Doesn't the OGL specifically say that you can not change the
|XP needed to gain a
|level?
The OGL doesn't actually prohibit anything if you remeber. Under the OGL I just keep the Skill and Feat system and create complete new rules for rolling up stats, giving experience, even turn the whole thing into a Dice Pool system. It's only the need for the shiney d20 logo that keeps people in check. Under the d20STLG it says:
"Applying the effects of Experience to a Character does not include creating or modifying an experience point chart, defining a new class (including describing what benefits that class provides at each level)."
So yes, this is possible.

|My suggestion would be to use the "monster level" in the DMG.
|Effectively, the
|player expends a level (pre-creation) to get the super-cyber
|outfit. This
|particularly works well if your players all start at "level
|3". So they could
|either be level 3 fighters or level 2 fighters + level 1 of cyberware.
I really like this idea. I was contemplating working on a modern spell caster idea where each class corresponded to a different supernatural power. Ie. There was Heightened Perceptions Levels 1-10 but it would be good to put off that next level so I could learn A couple of levels in the 'Control Animal' Class.
