Hello, Off and on, there has been talk on these lists about the expandability of the D20SRD. From those discussions arose an idea. What if the D20SRD could be designed so that, no matter the style, no matter the genre, no matter the "feel", the D20SRD will act as if it was designed to run that type of game specifically. Pulling together many of the ideas and concepts from people on these lists, I'm starting this project: Unified Universe aka Modular D20. The concept: Create a set of building blocks that when formed into a whole create a playable game system. For example: A person has in front of them several different modules that deal with HP's. One will be the D20 standard. Perhaps another will be a wound system such as will be found in starwars. Perhaps another is a track system such as found in cyberpunk, and perhaps another is just a set number of HP. Once that one is chosen then the GM goes over to the Character description section. The GM sees the standard D20 class/level module, and the Skill/rank module. Etc. It is all D20, using the core die mechanic. But, by allowing a modular design it will not only be scalable as far as number of rules, but it will also allow any style, genre and "feel", just by a choice of interlocking modules. To keep these list from flooding with project specific posts(hopefully :-) that I'm not sure quite belong, I've created a seperate mailing list for the project. Although i will keep these lists updated on the progress of the project, to keep awareness about it high. If anyone is interested in joining the project, let me know, either on or off list. Also, as a side note - I've noticed that two d20 webrings have already popped up. One is for D20SRD developers, the other is for D20STL developers. I didn't see one for just general OGL developers. So, i went ahead and made one. All you OGL developers are more than welcome to join.
