Maggie-
Your question about what we can offer as d20
publishers got me to thinking. Maybe it would be a
good idea to show the quality of stuff we can make
available that a fan site or a not-for-profit site can
make available.
So here is what I did. My company has contracted with
a artist who I think is awesome. The guy is very
expensive. He has done several pieces for me for our
free adventure (yes, thats right, I am including
professional art in the adventure I am giving away for
free--can you say "loss leader").
Go to my website at:
www.necromancergames.com
Then click on the picture to see a larger version--his
detail and pen stroke work is great. Check out the
quality of the art that we are providing.
I wasnt going to provide this prior to publication,
but I figured if there are enough skeptics, maybe a
little pre-release demo would help demonstrate the
quality of our products. This same artist is doing
full color covers for all our products (and that aint
cheap) as well as interior art.
I picked this guy out of several who I had do work ups
for me because I thought he showed a mix of Dave
Trampier and Jeff Dee--two of my favorite and most
recognizable 1st edition artists.
So check it out. Tell me what you think. And tell me
if this is the sort of thing that might set a
for-profit company apart from a not-for-profit
company.
I'd love everyone else's comments too.
