Graphic Design. Be consistent, when you have decided on a look for your product, use it consistently throughout. In those *rare* cases where a different look is called for, use it when there is a damn good reason, not because it would be a neat idea. You want to be consistent.
Let me add, it helps if it looks good, and doesn't overwhelm the
text. It does you no good if your graphics overshadows your prose. It
does you harm if the graphics drive customers away. You want a look
that gives the customer some idea of just what the product's
about, and encourages him to investigate further.
