I started avoiding it in 1976. The same year I started playing, err, RPG
:-)
It's not one of the languages that I wrote a D&D character generator in,
for the record. Not sure you could, if my some what hazy memory is
correct about the feature set.
For over 25 years that has been my "standard" toy program for testing out
a new language, OS or other such like.
I did, at one time, write a version of BASIC that had both dice() and
char_stat() as a built in function. Even in those days (this would have
been around 1988 or so), I used the "4d6, highest 3" method. IIRC it had
roll_to_hit() and make_saving_throw() functions as well.
Need to see if I can find that source code and make it D20....
