Unless they are already public domain, as things like Dwarves, Elves, Orcs,
Goblins and Dragons already are. Note that I'm not saying that Wizards'
Elves in the Forgotten Realms are public domain, rather that the concepts of
short stocky humanoids with beards called Dwarves and pointy-eared humanoids
called Elves who like to frolic in the woods are public domain. You'd have
to define YOUR elves, and they would have to be somewhat different from
Wizards Elves (and Tolkein Elves, and GURPS Elves, etc...)
