No. I think they should politely TELL Mongoose what they want done.
At the very LEAST, I think every author that was slighted should get $0.05 per word and a free copy of the book. MUCH cheaper than a mass recall (which is what is allowable).That's up to them. Getting that might require hiring a lawyer--which could eat up the $0.05 per word.
But we are in agreement that they should do _something_, and that they have Mongoose over a barrel just like if Mongoose was saying "This book is compatible with the Star Wars d20 Roleplaying game".
The ONLY thing that these guys even ASKED for their efforts initially was to get credit for their work. Nothing else. The NETBOOK people are the HEROES! While everybody else was talking trash and protecting their own interests, these guys were there giving to the commmunity.Yes, they do. The netbook folk are cool, dedicated, and work incredibly hard for a no-revenue work.
I think they deserve our support a little here.
I'm just a bit more idealistic than you, Dave--but you knew that allready.
