I've been following a lot of the conversations on here, and figured since
we're talking about previously produced work, I'd jump in with a minor
question.
That's not a minor question, FWIW.
I recently aquired permission from a rather famous author to use some ofFirst, go back and check to _make sure_ that you have permission to use the work in the copylefted Open Gaming license. Be especially sure that they understand the details of what the license will mean. While you're at it, ask them about PI relicensing (where you PI the names & other elements, and allow a license for re-use with an aknowledgement.)
thier material in a d20 sourcebook. Fans who read his stuff are sure to
recognise it.
(I have permission from both the author and the publishing company to use
this material)
Now, when I convert this material to d20, the question that I have is: Do
I leave the name of the novel as the name of the new product, or should I
put it somewhere else. The author of the book and the publishing company
don't care if I call it by the name of the book, or put: "Creatures,
equipment, organizations and PrC's inspired by XXXX novel."
Once that legal question is aside--pick the name that works best, and go with that.
