There is no reason why we can't have fully auto-configuring joystick support
with no need for the calibration screen at all. That calibration screen is a
throwback to the days when the DOS allmodex was reading raw joystick axis
electrical resistance values directly from the gameport controller.

Windows and Linux can both handle axis calibration. What I would love to do is
scrap the joystick calibrations screen, and just unconditionally use joystick
input. (we don't have to worry anymore about that old problem where an
uncalibrated joystick would cause random movements)
