What are our options if we dump sdl_mixer? I agree that would be a good thing.

...hmmm... I was about to say that SDL_mixer seems unmaintained, but it does
look like it has had bugfixes as recently as november, most recently
deprecating MikMod in favor of ModPlug, which might work around the worst of
the problems I ran into last time I tried to compile

Still, what are out other options? Should we refocus on music_native and
Audiere? Unfortunately audiere development seems to be dormant since mid 2006,
but I haven't investigated to see if it has bit-rot enough for that to be a
problem.

Another approach would be to make our own wrapper for libogg, libvorbis
libmodplug. I am not 100% certain, but I think modplug gives us midi for free,
so we don't need to worry about timidity (and we can still send midi to the
windows midi interface on windows) and we don't really have to worry about mp3
since that is only ever used for previewing, which is a non-essential function,
and (arguably) not worth the extra dependencies.

..Or does anybody know of another suitable sound library that might meet our
needs? Maybe OpenAL? I dunno.
