Hi, Libera Chat has just marked their one month milestone - https://libera.chat/news/one-month-of-libera-chat. OI has had channels on Libera Chat for much of that time and the old freenode channels have seen little activity* since.
All the documentation still refers to freenode. Now that Libera Chat is established, it is possibly time to bring the documentation up to date. I've proposed a PR to update the main docs site: https://github.com/OpenIndiana/oi-docs/pull/190 The OI homepage has mentions of freenode on these pages: https://www.openindiana.org/community/ https://www.openindiana.org/community/support/ https://www.openindiana.org/community/getting-involved/ Whomever is responsible for the website (?) will need to update them. What does everything think about this? It would be good to poll the community somehow. In case some people want to keep using freenode and keep it mentioned in the documentation. That seems very unlikely, but it would be wrong to simply merge these changes without any warning or consultation. It would be beneficial to continue logging IRC messages as these can be good source for reference. Logbot have made their archives available: https://archive.logbot.info/. We could extract the OI channel logs from here and add them somewhere? Thanks, James * According to logbot.info (now no longer operating), the last message posted to #openindiana on freenode was June 9 - nobody replied. The last message with replies was on June 6. My logs indicate much more activity on the libera.chat #openindiana channel - the last message was on June 27 and plenty of activity throughout June. For oi-dev, there's no human messages since June 7 on freenode. On libera.chat oi-dev had messages a few days ago. _______________________________________________ oi-dev mailing list oi-dev@openindiana.org https://openindiana.org/mailman/listinfo/oi-dev
