I've seen that behavior too. It's a bug in ninja, but the developer refuses to accept complaints about it. Ninja unconditionally defines _FILE_OFFSET_BITS=64 . The bug affects only 32-bit builds, but sometimes you need a 32-bit build. It's easily fixed on OI, by a patch that removes the offending statement.
