Those patches are welcome.
I had hoped that the right set of steps to just switch OI to perl 5.34
would be more straightforward, but they really haven't been.
It hasn't helped that I've been very busy with projects for the past
couple months.
One thing that would help would be if someone could confirm whether the
build errors I see for illumos-gate with
https://github.com/OpenIndiana/oi-userland/pull/7733
occur for others too, or if it's something specific to my environment.
Considering how long it takes me to rebuild illumos-gate in my VM build
environment every time I test, it's been time-consuming to even get to
that point.
Note that the removal of 5.22 is also tied to the process to obsolete
32 bit end-user components, at least for things that link to perl. As
we make progress on that project, removing 5.22 becomes a little easier.

You didn't miss a step. The actual problems are due a failed
illumos-gate build tonight.
We need to fix it and rerun the jenkins job. This will pronably take
another 3 to 4 hours.
