I have tagged OpenImageIO "Release-1.5.17", which contains a variety of minor bug and build fixes. This is now the official recommended-for-production stable release, which we promise has no API or ABI breaks compared to earlier 1.5.x versions.
Meanwhile, new features continue to be added to 'master'. That's usually fairly strong and production-tested as well, but is subject to changes in API or ABI compatibility without advanced notice.
