If anybody has feedback or concerns, please comment on the ticket. In the absence of objections, I'll probably merge it next week. I don't expect anybody to slog through the code. I'm mainly soliciting validation on the design choices, which are summed up in the ticket introduction. My hope is that this set of changes will be a welcome cleanup of IBA and make OIIO use more intuitive, especially for Python.
