Slightly off topic, but this is the right audience: Many of you know that for years I organized a SIGGRAPH party called "open source 'Beers of a Feather'" for the people involved with the various VFX/anim open source projects to get some f2f time and meet in person.
With the advent of the ASWF, that organization has taken over the task (yay!) and now it's branching out to also include localized events outside of SIGGRAPH.
