AFAIK this has been resolved in CVS HEAD (1.1) via a patch by Gerhard
Grosse. I don't think it has been back ported into 1.0.X, however. I'll
see what I can do.

Dear OJB Developers,
We are running into a problem with OJB regarding the ordering of
commits. If I have object A which references objects B and C,
sometimes
OJB wants to commit A before B and C, and a null pointer exception
results. I hear a rumor that this problem is fixed in CVS, and I was
wondering if it will be fixed in 1.0.2, and when 1.0.2 is expected to
be
released?
Thank you for any information. Let me know if I can be of any
assistance
with this issue.
If your issue is the same as described here:
http://marc.theaimsgroup.com/?l=ojb-user&m=110442708804634
Then, as of now, it is not fixed in CVS.
