Hi All,
Is OJB ready for production env ?
Depends on your production environment. If you want to program an aeroplane autopilot system you should not use Java at all. ;-)
(At least SUN has such a disclaimer)
But I assume we are talking about enterprise business applications, aren't we?
And for such applications it's a clear *yes*. OJB has been in production since release 0.5, which is now 2 years ago.
Just search through the mailing list, this question has been asked (and answered many times before).
Can I use "lock" with PB API or only with ODMG API ?
PB provides optimistic locking only. ODMG provides optimistic and pessimistic locking
Is there a reference implemetation with all features of OJB ?
You want a reference to see that OJB is ready for production, or to see how to use all the features?
If it's the former I could bring you in contact with some project leads that sucessfully use OJB. But they are all in Germany! SO I don't know if it's of any use ;-)
Maybe some user could point us to a production web site powered by OJB? This would be the most easy way for a showcase.
If it is the latter, There are plenty of such references. 1. Our Junit testbed, covering more than 400 features 2. Chuck Cavaness' O'Reilly book on struts programming covers OJB: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0596003285/qid=1054656123/sr=2-1/ref=sr_2_1/103-9325116-6675068 code from the book is here: http://examples.oreilly.com/jakarta/
3. There's also a WROX book on Struts + OJB: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/1861007817/qid=1054655953/sr=8-1/ref=sr_8_1/103-9325116-6675068?v=glance&s=books&n=507846 here is their sample code: http://web.wrox.com/download/code/professional/7817.zip
I don't think that there is a single application demonstrating *all* features, the references above should get you started ;-)
welcome to OJB-land, Thomas
Thanks, Vinicius Bomfim
