Without looking for it right now, I seem to remember reading something on
the OL web site that Open Library has everything that Project Gutenberg
does -- and in accessible ebook format too. For that reason I have virtually
given up using Project Gutenberg. After all, if Open Library has everything
they have then why bother with both sites. This evening, though, I happened
to think of the fact that I have downloaded some public domain magazines
from Gutenberg in the past and I wondered if they were in the OL catalog. I
did a couple of searches and they are not. I suppose I shouldn't be
surprised. After all, magazines are not generally regarded as books.
However, it occurs to me that it would be a really good idea to have an
OpenLibrary for magazines, especially accessible magazines for the print
impaired. Public domain magazines would be easy enough to collect since they
exist already on the Gutenberg site. Are there any plans for or discussions
about this idea?
