Hi my name is Tim and I am new to the group. Been lurking, alot of
great information. Been working on a 51 five window that was a 3/4
ton. I put the cab on a 49 1/2 ton frame. Was running a 216 but have
rebuilt a 62 235 bored .040 over ground the crank .010 and getting the
head done. Found a local country neighbor who works out of a shop at
home. Great machinist and very reasonable. Keeping the orginal look.
Have done all the body work, replaced all the rusted panels
sandblasted the frame and painted it. Going with a 12 generator in
place of the 6v. Orginal beanch seat recovered. My question is this I
recently was able to purshase a 3/4 ton frame with the axles and a
decent cab. It has a complete GMC motor serial #6107323 or 8. This is
a 53 248 the best I can figure out.Is this a full pressure oil motor?
Not real familiar with GMC motors. It has a 4 speed behind it. The
motor turns over. I was thinking of possibly using this motor in place
of the 235. Would my 3 speed bolt up to this bell housing or would I
need to swap out the bell housing, fly wheel and preasure plate. I
purshased this parts truck for $100. Any ideal the value of this
complete motor to inclued the air cleaner. Thanks
