Well, now I'm doubting what I thought I had known. Maybe someone else will
jump in on this and help out. I'm currently doubting the book but I might
just be wrong.

  The H072 was the one ton part, the H050 was 3/4 ton according to the GMC
  Master Parts Book, which uses the same drawings but different part
  numbers for both parts.

  I'm quite sure that the Chevy banjo style 3/4 and 1 ton rears
  were called
  HO72 up till about 1972 when they quit using them. I don't know
  when they
  started using them but they were definitely around in the early
  fifties.
