The Iron Duke stood by itself and was used in the Pontiac Sunbird while
Chevrolet pursued their other mistake Vega [similar cars]. The Chevrolet
version of the "Duke was offered in the Nova. The half 8 and aluminum 4 fell by
the wayside.

  I know GM made a 4 banger that was indeed , a V-ate sawed in half ,
it used the V-ate head gasket , pistons , rod bearings , cam chain
and even the cylinder head , I didn't recal that being the Iron
Duke , I know it was used in millions of Pontiac Tempests .

  Those were good cars .

didn't know that. My first demonstrator was a 62 Nova 100 station
wagon. Spent the summer of 1962 hauling my friends from Greeley to
Estes Park (50 Mile of which 25 was a narrow canyon road going from
about 5,000' to 8,000'. Plenty of room for 6 or 8 and room left
over for Coors beer. Great car!!!!!!
