Hello all, I have a 1954 chevy truck 5 window, custom cab, with 235 straight 6 and a 4sp hydra-matic transmission. I have had probably the best guy in my area rebuild the transmission several times and it still slips in 3rd gear (possibly due to a crack or something in the core). I want to keep the truck original as possible and the 235 runs like a top. What are my options for swapping out to a different type of transmission and keeping the 235? I was told a 2 sp power glide or a 350 turbo with adapter plate will fit the 235 engine. I don't expect I'd be lucky enough to find another working hydra-matic 4 sp in the Pacific North West. Any info from anyone about my options is greatly apprecated. thanks
