I would get a FLowmaster, I think that they have the best sound and performance. Mike 50 3100
I am planning on putting a new exhaust system on my truck. It is a '52 3100 with a '54 235. I have a stock rochester and stock exhaust manifold. I plan on replacing the heat riser which is looks completely inoperative, having a new pipe bent, and getting a glass pack put in. My current exhaust system is a complete piece of junk with numerous rust holes, and ends just beyond the back of the cab. My questions are: Where do I source the exhaust header to pipe gaskets for this engine and is there anything to avoid here (incorrect types of gaskets, etc)? Do I try to find hangers, or is that something the muffler shop will take care of? Current my exhaust is held on by none other than coat hanger wire. I would like a nice warm note (sound) from the exhaust while getting the best performance from a stock setup. I plan on eventually going to a Carter YF carb setup as I hear they are less leaky and more reliable than the rochester (which leaks a bit and stumbles on acceleration now and then). Is a glass pack a good option? How far back should I put the glass pack? I think I have a heat shield around somewhere that isn't installed that I believe goes under the bed somewhere. How far back does the glass pack go, and do I run the exhaust all the way to the rear bumper? Thanks Albion [Non-text portions of this message have been removed] Ole Chevy and GMC trucks rule!
