248 was last used in 1955. 270 and 302 were both available in 1955. Common lower end parts for 1955 included: main bearing sets main bearing caps rods and rod bearings 248 pistons were available from GMC as large as ".075 oversize rough" Starting in 1956 GMC Parts Master Book calls out different (from 1955) part numbers for 270 and 302 pistons, rings and pins main bearing sets main bearing caps (only one that changes is the thrust bearing cap) 270 and 302 engines used the same crankshaft (4" stroke).
