You also need to be careful about filling the radiatior all the way to the
"top". When cold the fluid level should just cover the radiator core.
Anything more than that will cause overflow every time - just ask me how I know!

I've had a problem with antifreeze leaking from the drainline that
runs down the side of the radiator (normal, I know). The problem is
that I've talked to my mechanic and he said it should overflow a
little at first but then once warmed up it should stop leaking. He
also said the cold fluid level should not drop below the top of the
core and if it does then I should replace the cap. Well, when I warm
it up it burps a ton of fluid out (about 1/3 of the radiator). Why
does a new cap make a difference and which cap should I use...I've
found 0lb, 4lb and 7lb caps listed online at the usual truck part
sites. Thanks for the help...this question may be basic I know, but
again, thanks in advance.
