Are you replacing the oil seal there? Some suggest keeping the front cover
loose until you've installed the balancer to allow the seal to center on the
shoulder of the balancer. .bill

I don't know but the reason has to be dead simple ~ look down inside 
the new balancer and measure it with some calipers to see if it's got a 
step or isn't as deep....
