My dad always used a rawhide mallet. You don't do any damage to the balancer that way. He has been driving a '51 Chevy since 1960, put ab out 400000 miles on the one he's got, which had 29000 on it when he got it. He always did his own mechanic work and his neighbor's too, so I reckon he knew what he was doing.
