BTW, there's a guy in Vernon TX that restores license plates to new condition.  
He can do either matte finish as original or glossy if you really want them to 
stand out.  He did mine and they're better than new.  If I remember correctly 
he's a little pricey at $35 per plate but the work was outstanding.

I found ebay to be a good source for old plates.  I was able to get a 1951 
Texas Farm Truck plate for my truck in almost new condition.

My problem is solved. I bought an original, unrestored 1952 Arizona truck
license plate, that I can now use as my official everyday plate. I am
