I had a '48 Chevy with rubber on the running board such as the running board
was.  Seems like I remember seeing some cars out of the thirties had them as
well, though most of that vintage was off the road when I walked the earth,
thanks in large part to a local man named Bill Harrah........

I seem to remember something about this from 30+ years ago.

The rubber on the running boards was for cars .at least when they had
running boards. .bill in corvallis

RE: 1950 3/4 ton GMC

My truck came to me painted all red including the running boards. I am under
the impression that they were originally a semi gloss black regardless of
the color.
Anyway I took it to the local body shop and he questioned if the original
was a black ribbed rubber. I have not seen that in any of the restoration
catalogs but I thought I would throw the question out to the group.

I am getting ready to mount the spare tire rim on the side of the truck. Any
thoughts on putting it on the left or right?

Thanks for your input
Carl
