I thought about running my fuse block directly from the ignition switch too,
but wasn't sure how much current the switch would handle.

When you run current through a coil of wire it becomes a magnet 
(electro-magnet) and attracts any thing magnetic. It doesn't care about
polarity or 
anything. Don't know how long the relay will last if on all the time, I ran 
my fuse block to the acc terminal on the switch even tho it didn't have a
