Hi Don, Welcome to the group. I have the stock seat in my truck but have observed others have put the later model 40/60 seats in the older trucks; they appear to fit however it appears that because the cab is not as wide as the newer cabs that the center of the driver side of the seat (the 40%) is off set from the center of the steering wheel - so you would need to sit towards the right side of the drivers 40% portion to have the steering wheel centered in front of you. This may bother some, others not. A seat without the split would not have this issue.
I'm sure there are many different opinions in the group regarding seats. The one in my Dad's '54 GMC was not very comfortable. I hope you enjoy the truck. You live in a beautiful part of the country (one of my favorites). We recently picked up an already started 1951 5 window project - got a good bit of body and bed work to do. I am hoping to keep the original looks outside but upgrade the running gear. I am wondering if the 60/40 front seat out of a late model (96/97) GM pickup will fit between the doors of the '51 ? I have one in my work truck and it's been comfortable for 256000 miles...hope to be able to use it. thanks, Don Fiftyone5window [Non-text portions of this message have been removed] [Non-text portions of this message have been removed] ------------------------------------ Ole Chevy and GMC trucks rule!
