While there is some truth in it, and while it has always been like that, the short answer is, that "your" automated process depends too much on hardwired logic. There is a simple workaround for this, as it is always handled in the same way. Read Shell programming in 24 hrs. p.s. OS/Net is not the only consolidation which has this (non-)problem. Did you already notice? But as you repeatedly suggested a few established distros to abandon their distro projects in favor of joining yours (on different IRCs), you certainly will find a good solution for us all.
