deamonisation with the framework pkg.depotd currently uses to serve
network requests has some implications that need to be investigated
before it's changed to do so.
So, in short, mostly for historical reasons.
Since onu will move to using filesystem-based repository access in the
near future (I assume?) I suspect this will be a short-lived issue.
